Pros
I recently completed my postdoctoral fellowship at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), it was a fulfilling and rewarding experience. WPI has provided me with a rich environment to further my research, develop my skills, and expand my professional network. The mentorship provided by the faculty members at WPI has been exceptional. My supervisor was not only highly knowledgeable in the field but also deeply invested in my success. They provided invaluable guidance, feedback, and encouragement throughout my fellowship, ensuring that I was on the right track, helping me overcome challenges, and actively investing in my career development activities. The regular meetings and discussions with my mentor and fellow postdocs were enriching and pushed me to think critically, enabling me to refine my research methodologies and sharpen my analytical skills.
Cons
The only minor downside I experienced during my time at WPI was the relatively low compensation package. However, given the relatively low cost of living in the Worcester area compared to Boston, for example, the expenses offset to average Postdoc salary to some extent.
