Pros
if you’re lucky, you will have nice colleagues. Sometimes you get to have free lunch but that is in exchange for your slavery and incoming pile of work load that obviously can be better managed should the superior have better time and people management skills. No other benefits that I’ve came across thus far. Unless you have love and passion for such a work culture and team dynamic, I suggest working elsewhere.
Cons
No standards of sanitary hygiene and the office is not properly cleaned/washed for a Long time and adding on to that you have to work under a toxic environment. Broken toilet windows meaning you enjoy a ‘view’ while using the toilet (no thanks). The entire toilet is a mess and even door hinges are in no working condition. Not much benefits (snacks available on a make shift table made from pallets) You’re supposed to come on time or slightly late but clock out only when your superior thinks you’re done. Meaning each day you haven’t a clue what time you can be ‘dismissed’ as the team are always rushing for nothing and has a passion for the OT culture without limits. If you leave ON TIME, superior questions you the next day asking for a ‘handover’ before you even reach your desk. Superior hardly listens and has communication issues. When one clarifies on something uncertain, superior responds in a tone of condescending voice treating the opposite party like he/she is a complete idiot. Superior will also appear to question the lack of knowledge of the party. It is also habitual to be explaining and talking/‘handover’/‘update’ to a superior but he/she is completely not even trying to be attentive and thus making the entire process a waste of time and efforts as the cycle repeats each time a ‘update’ is needed. The main point is the superior does not listen enough and fails to communicate effectively leading to many times a breakdown of communication between parties. Ideas and feedbacks often get beaten down or brushed off because the superior thinks he/she is most knowledgeable and able to make the best decisions and typically he/she has the final say no matter what thus everything else is just a waste of saliva. Leave entitlements are hard to get and subjected to the mood of superior and ‘claiming of hours’ as given by superior is something that’s mentioned but never given. It is also a common habit of the superior to ‘get back to you’ regarding employees requests such as taking half day offs and/or leaves. It is one of the many ways for the superior to delay the employee’s pre-booked plans and have to put it on hold till the last minute only to find out it has not been approved because the superior fails to realise that at times such leaves are urgent and/or simply that people have already made plans and would like to take time off. The superior often 'forgets' to let you know on your urgent requests due to being too 'swarmed' but you can expect to see your superior doing ad-hoc stuffs like watering plants and doing non-urgent duties but mentions that he/she does not have time to check on what's supposed to be done in a rude and cant-be-bothered tone of voice. One also needs to state specific and clear reasoning when requesting for leave as the superior requires full understanding of the purpose of applying one's leave before giving verdict if the leave can be approved. In the event that one’s leave has been approved, one can foresee himself/herself reporting back to work and face the superior which apparently, felt too much anxiety during the time when the employee has been away and therefore floods you with work load and asks for a full follow up right before you even get the chance to settle down and start your day. If you’re sick and takes a mc, you will hear your superior mentioning the HIGH MC rates and that everyone should drink more water and be healthy. (Have you ever wondered if the reason behind employees being sick is due to your unethical and unhygienic office or that people are just burnt out?) Overall the work environment, especially the superior is very very toxic and employees are not appreciated neither cherished despite the duration that one has contributed for this company. Turn over rate of this company is always high but superior fails to realize the underlying reason might be due to the attitude of some and work place culture itself. There isn’t any proper departments within the company thus every single thing by-passes the superiors. You can see he/she is in a mess but he/she refuses to admit it and persists in continuing such work culture and enforce slavery on their employees with little to no forms of appreciation or rewards to motivate employees. If you ever work for this company, prepare yourself to be turned into a robot where you’re expected to work just like the superiors. In the event that you have tendered and serving your notice period. Do note that there will be vast change during your 1 month of work duration. Expect unreasonable work load till your very last day, bad attitude and break down in communication, zero respect for you and if you’re thinking of clearing your leave during your notice period. Forget about it. The superior will simply tell you that he has to check and end up leaving you in the dirt without any decency to let you know or update you on his decision. Simply because he wants to enforce the last bit of slavery on you without any form of mercy.
