Pros

Talented Design and Technical Teams

Cons

Very poor team at Director level, who are focussed on churning out piecemeal work. Not true Project Management and very removed from the clients - effectively a commoditised operation where the staff are micro-managed and have little or no autonomy or opportunity to push creative boundaries.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on working here at Xigen, we’re really sorry to hear that you didn’t have a more positive experience. We don’t understand the ‘removed from clients’ comment given that the entire senior management team are in touch with our clients on a weekly (sometimes daily) basis. As a business we’re focussed on bringing fantastic new projects that will allow our teams to push their creative boundaries, which can be seen by the introduction of our new sales and marketing team who are already doing a great job at this during a tough period. There will always be an element of BAU work as our client retention rate (currently 82%) means that we form long term relationships with our clients. We actively try not to micro-manage our staff and are disappointed to hear that you feel this way, we will therefore strive to continue to allow our staff to work in ways that allow them freedom to work in the ways that they enjoy. Thanks again for sharing your feedback with us, we will ensure that we take your comments on board.

Pros

First class creativity and digital nous with some serious web dev talent. Felt supported although did have to work long hours sometimes just like any other job.

Cons

Never felt I really fitted in but that's not necessarily a reflection of Xigen, it could be a case of 'It's not you, it's me'.

Pros

Free snacks in the office and monthly care packages.

Cons

I had high hopes when I first started working here, but my experience quickly turned sour due to their archaic and highly controlling design team manager micromanaging every aspect of the work, down to the tiniest, most insignificant detail. Creativity and innovation were stifled and any attempt to introduce modern design trends or fresh ideas was immediately shut down. It felt like working in the past, with rigid processes that were more about control than collaboration. Instead of empowering the team, management would hover over every task, constantly changing things for the sake of asserting dominance, rather than trusting the team’s expertise. This resulted in unnecessary revisions and a work environment that was more about pleasing one person’s outdated vision than delivering high-quality results for clients. In addition, there are no opportunities for career growth, with employees being significantly underpaid and receiving little to no recognition or appreciation for their contributions. Overall, if you're looking for a forward-thinking, collaborative agency, I would recommend steering clear of this one. The toxic micromanagement culture makes it nearly impossible to get anything done efficiently or creatively.
