Pros

I have worked at YHG for around 18 months, so I can't talk about the "old world" (Arena and Harvest days) as YHG formed about 4 years or so ago. I’m not going to ‘argue’ with another’s viewpoint even if I don’t agree. We are all entitled to our opinion, so I’m just going to say it how I see it. Despite some reviewers inferring it's not a nice place to work - I disagree. I enjoy working at YHG, I have a supportive line manager and great colleagues, and they make me want to come to work. I won’t speak for others but what I will say is that I work with a lot of like-minded people, I know this because I experience it every day. Yes, we have our ups/downs - who doesn't, but I've received nothing but support from those around me and when I visit other YHG sites I am treated respectfully by my colleagues and they’ve helped and supported me when needed. I might do more now than when I first started but I’m actually OK with that because I want to give as much as I’m able. I want to do a good job and go home thinking “I’ve made a difference”. I’ve got a job that I like, working with people I like. The pace of change isn’t for everyone, but this IS a good place to work. Regardless of what’s said around positive reviews, I’m not a member of the management team, I’m just a regular employee who genuinely likes working at YHG!

Cons

Losing the opportunity to work with some good people who may be put off by reviews - I recommend you to make up your own mind.

Pros

I joined nearly 18 months ago and was pleasantly suprised by how welcoming everyone was. The way different teams work together to support each other was a refreshing change for me. There is a genuine customer 1st culture that is felt from the top down, especially since the appointment of the new CEO. As a senior manager I feel I'm given the autonomy to manage my service area without being micro managed, but know support is there if I need it. It's fast paced but that means there's plenty of opportunity for development and growth. The organisation is committed to developing those that want to and good performance and success is recognised and appreciated.

Cons

It's a large organisation in terms of volume of stock which can be a bit daunting at first if you've come from somewhere smaller but you soon adapt and appreciate the different challenges and opportunities it brings. As with any organisation in the sector at the moment there are lots of challenges but YHG are facing them head on and don't shy away from where improvements need to be made.
