Pros

The job is the main thing that keeps Yuma interesting since it exposes you to all sorts of goings on & interesting, unexpected facets of Yuma life. Reporting gets your name in print, which can translate to useful exposure.

Cons

The pay and benefits. Guaranteed, you'll get low-balled. There are never pay increases that management will offer you & if you ask for a raise, they promise they'll ask corporate but never actually get back to you. Having seen compensation packages for similar roles in Yuma, the job pays peanuts. There's no interest in retaining employees so I'd recommend this if you're looking for the experience, can afford the low pay, & expect to find new opportunities within a year or two.

Pros

The employees are loyal, dedicated, hard working, and know how to make due with few resources.

Cons

The current owners do not care about the employees or the culture they destroyed. They slashed and burned when they took over letting 35% of the staff go. Employees are overworked, poorly compensated, and their benefits are expensive. The company hardly pays for anything. The only reason to work there is because you love journalism or there are no other jobs available in Yuma.
