Pros

Global opportunities available, excellent benefits. Opportunity to work with some really bright and capable people in pockets throughout the organization. After several tough years, beginning in 2005 with the Texas City Refinery accident, senior leadership took the necessary steps to streamline the bureaucracy and address behaviors that led to incorrect priorities and poor decision making. Bright future ahead for the company as the green economy expands.

Cons

Operating units are rarely in desirable living locations, outside of Houston and limited staff in satellite offices (Chicago, L.A., etc.). Salary and clear career path options could be better to retain highly skilled employees outside of the engineering/technical functions.

Pros

Supportive team environment with good learning opportunities and exposure to large-scale projects. Compensation and benefits are competitive, and the company offers strong brand recognition and career development resources.

Cons

Decision-making can be slow due to layers of management, and processes sometimes feel overly bureaucratic. Workload and priorities can shift quickly, which may create stress depending on the team.
