Pros

I work at Down Etc and have for over two years. The approach to learning, the training, and the education are always exciting and fun because it’s truly purpose driven. I feel valued as an employee and that my own health and wellbeing matters. I'm looking forward to working here ongoing. The career opportunities are great and I feel that I can really grow and advance here. This extends to the people we serve as well; the core values of the company come through in every task. Being part of the Down Etc team, we’re purpose driven, always offering our clients the right products, always listening and continuing to provide the best products and services. We’re trained to help clients find what they actually need in order to get a great night’s sleep. That’s what it’s all about! Also, I love the fact that I meet so many different people in different industries, from hotels, to b&b’s, to corporations looking for corporate gifts and rewards for their employees, and more. Not to mention the Down Etc team itself is great! They are go-getters, focused on helping people sleep better and really living out the core values of the company. Very supportive team! As for the products, we offer the best quality products and services. I couldn’t work with a company I don’t believe in and I can honestly say that the products are high quality and thoughtfully designed. They’ve become my go-to for bedding, towels and more, and have set the bar high! Proud to be introducing others to these products and working at Down Etc.

Cons

Really not much to say here! At first I was overwhelmed as I was learning the industry, the products, and how to manage my time and learn the products, etc... but the training really helped with that. I was taught modules and systems to help focus on the different directions I can go, how to focus, and really how to be successful.

Pros

• Decent paycheck • Stocked kitchen with snacks • Occasional free pillows and product giveaways

Cons

There are numerous potential labor law issues here, and employees are required to sign a binding arbitration agreement before even starting — which limits your ability to take action if you experience mistreatment later on. The root of the problem is the owner, who drives a culture of control, fear, and performative generosity. When key staff are out, new employees often become the target of mood swings, micromanagement, and unfair treatment. Communication from the top is frequently condescending — especially toward employees who speak with an accent or have limited English, which includes mimicking how they speak in ways that are deeply unprofessional. Employees are pressured into unpaid Friday lunches framed as “discussions” but function more like mandatory meetings. Technology and systems are stuck in the early 2000s, which only adds stress. The environment is emotionally exhausting, with constant changes in priorities and reactive leadership. The owner’s behavior shifts from overly involved to erratic, and decisions are made emotionally, not strategically. While the paycheck may seem fair, the culture is anything but. This is not a healthy or sustainable workplace — especially if you value structure, professionalism, or basic respect. Be aware before accepting an offer.
