Pros

Free lunch on Fridays ($10 limit), free popcorn

Cons

There is so much wrong with this place, I'm not even sure where to begin. I would give the place zero stars if I could. First, the products they offer are terrible. Most of them aren't even iBoomerang's. The owner just thinks it's okay to resell other company's products. Because they're not even the company's inventions, customer support is terrible. If you purchase any product, you will be required to sign a contract that will automatically renew without notice, and if you do not pay your bill, you will be taken to court. The reason everyone hates their jobs is the owner, Doug Frankel. He is never, ever wrong. In fact, YOU are wrong and do not understand how the industry works or how to do your own job. He takes credit for things that go well and blames you when they go wrong. He doesn't care about your opinion. If your innovative idea isn't one practiced in 1993, he won't listen. He suppresses creativity and innovation. Be prepared to be stuck with the same boring responsibilities and never grow as a professional. He constantly changes his mind - one story in the morning and a different one after lunch. He throws tantrums if you tell him something will take longer than he wants it to or it's not even possible. He is a micromanager. You are required to list all of your tasks in the project management system and mark the time you spend on it. He operates by fear. Sales are down, he's going to have to start laying off people, etc. On top of all of that, he is a sleazy liar. He will promise you good raises and benefits. A "good" raise to him is 15 cents per hour (or just over $300 per year). As for benefits, the company is too small to offer group medical plans. (Also, he doesn't want to spend any money for your benefit.) You will have the chance to purchase your own individual health plans through him, of course, because he also sells insurance through USA Benefits Group. This means HE makes money off of YOU purchasing a health plan through HIM. You're never worthy of your terrible salary. You might be lucky to get a $100 Christmas bonus if you last the year. Expect to be way underpaid no matter your number of years of service. As for the environment/culture of the office, there are cameras mounted throughout the office, pointed right at the computers. Once Doug decides he doesn't like you for whatever reason (could be he doesn't like your work, could be he found out you're gay...), he will watch your every move and listen to every call to find a reason to fire you so that he does not have to pay unemployment. The office is full of cubicles, most of which are empty, but Doug likes to have them in there taking up space so it "looks" like a successful company. In those cubicles are the tiniest desks ever with only room for your computer, phone, and some papers. The mood of the office is terrible because everyone hates their jobs. If I haven't convinced you yet to not accept a position here, know this: The company is sinking fast. Sales are way down, and Doug has even talked about laying off some of the FIVE workers he has in the office. It relies on its partnership with USA Benefits Group, and if they ever left, there would be basically no money coming in. It's all a big scheme that makes money for Doug and a select few managers with USA Benefits Group.
