Pros

Fully remote for now, nice office

Cons

The company once had a genuinely positive and inclusive culture, but things have changed drastically over the past year. They also recently undergone significant changes at both leadership and team levels, none of which have positively impacted the work environment. Engineering managers often lack technical expertise and resort to micromanagement, stifling innovation and autonomy. There’s little to no focus on technical optimization or code quality. Teams are understaffed, leading to consistently high workloads and burnout among engineers. Support is minimal, and feedback from the ground rarely drives change. Attempts to raise concerns—especially about toxic management behavior—were ignored, even when escalated to HR. Company also decided to shift it's All Hands abruptly to German even though there is a significant number of non German/immigrants in the company. This, along with occasional microaggressions, creates an uncomfortable and at times alienating environment for immigrant employees. While the company used to compensate for its below-market salaries by highlighting a generous benefits package, most of those benefits are no longer available.

Pros

It used to be a good company, maybe they still have some common sense that will awaken.

Cons

They let Axel Springer's claws inside the management, and they no longer cared about the employees. They sent a survey about coming back to the office, but it was obvious just a formality, because they disregarded its results. Works Council tried to negotiate the terms, the amount of days, work abroad, but the management eventually said "accept what we want or we'll make you come 5 days". Sounds pretty illegal and unethical to me. They reduced the work abroad from 180 days a year, to 20. They want us in the office and reduced work abroad for NO REASON. The company has great results the way it was, and this change will only bring negative impact. The office, although nice, is not a place where developers enjoy being and can focus. It literally went from a company I used to recommend to anyone, and reject job offers, to some sort of dictatorship. I would not recommend it to anyone anymore.
