Pros

lifeIMAGE was an amazing company when I joined. We had technology and ideas far ahead of the competition, and we had a list of incredibly impressive customers. There were strong leaders across the organization, and while they made missteps, they all had a vision for what we could achieve together. Sadly, their vision was never realized, and things changed for the worst nearly two years ago.

Cons

If you join now, you should know the following facts. All of the founders left the company, and all but one of the original senior leaders left the company. As has been mention in other posts, HR is absolutely part of the problem. I was present when an individual in HR made unsavory remarks about a potential hire. This wasn't behind closed doors, it was out in the open, and it was abhorrent. It's also the small changes that have made the company worse. They once had photos of all the employees on the about page which humanized the company. One of the first changes made by the new leadership was taking all those photos down. It was communicated to the entire company that this was done to make the company seem larger, but it's all smoke and mirrors. The turn over rate is high, and customers are leaving. It's all just such a shame. Through mismanagement they are turning a victory into a defeat, and I have to wonder why they are so unable to see their mistakes. Is it a coincidence that so many long term employees left in droves after the new management team was brought on board? Other positive reviews here attribute the problem to employees unable to accept change. This type of thinking is part of the problem, and it's only contributing to more employees leaving the company.

Pros

- Very professional co-workers - a lot of autonomy, and people are always available to discuss things and answer questions/troubleshoot, no one will judge you for not knowing something - A large existing client base to iterate on - lifeIMAGE has been around for a longish time and is one of the major medical image platforms - this means we have a ton of data and network effects from a large install base - makes for fun projects only available at scale - Very knowledgable seniors - there are many people who have been here for a longish time (5-7+ years) who know the ins and outs of different systems and the reasons why things have evolved the way they have over time. Having that historical context is super helpful and incredibly educational - Autonomy and professionalism - really can't stress this enough. The CEO has been doing the healthcare tech thing for a long time, and it shows in how he runs the company. CTO is focused on future plans and has great ideas and a great network to make it happen. VP of Engineering is super pro and is great to work for. No micro-management, people are trusted to get stuff done.

Cons

This isn't necessarily a con, but lifeIMAGE's engineering is an enterprise environment. There is a lot of enterprise processes from various build systems, to nightly QA, and fairly specialized roles. I personally find this a major positive, because constantly context switching can cause less productivity and I'm especially focused on increasing specific skills (that I use everyday), but if you are an entrepreneurial full-stack type that wants to own an entire system and move fast/break things, this might not be the right fit.
