Cons
Over the past three years of my tenure at rapid!, it has become increasingly evident that the organizational culture and work-life balance within the company are profoundly deficient. The culture is also highly inconsistent with the ever changing and vague job role description; of which is devoid of core competencies. Moreover, newly developed ‘stand up’ products such as On Demand platforms forgo a proven ability of successful project management and implementation, where piloting and appropriate testing were either non-existent or poorly executed, as structure remains elusive.
Despite my sincere efforts to adapt and contribute positively to the company's objectives, the pervasive culture of disregard for employee well-being in respect to unreasonable demands, blatant exploitation, and lack of professional growth opportunities, has hindered my ability to thrive in this environment.
Additionally and despite the company’s lip service paid to the importance of maintaining a healthy equilibrium between work and personal life, the reality is far removed from this ideal. This can be attributed to the cyclical and systemic issues causing such turbulence that are continually enabled internally and externally. The incessant demands placed upon employees, particularly Enrollment being the catch-all for rampant organizational shortcomings evident of an ineffective business model and no internal quality control teams, coupled with an expectation of constant availability, have resulted in a detrimental impact on both my physical and mental well-being.
Furthermore, the prevailing culture at rapid! is rife with corporate toxicity and unrealistic standards. Instances of disrespectful behavior between inter- and cross-functional teams such as gas-lighting, favoritism, and a lack of accountability have become all too commonplace. Such a corrosive atmosphere not only erodes morale but also undermines the collective productivity and effectiveness of the workforce.
While I have attempted to address these concerns through various channels within the organization, including feedback sessions and discussions with HR/management, it is evident that meaningful change has been much too little, too late, and/or is unwilling to take root on an actionable, scalable, and consistent level.
Without such, I cannot foresee an environment of possibility that truly adds benefit to employees respective of their job role, meaning they aren’t set up for success, and as it relates to overall performance for fulfilling the needs of the organization. It is regrettable that despite the considerable contributions of dedicated employees, the company has perpetually failed to cultivate an environment conducive to mutual respect internally and externally, nor employee investment and growth, fair market compensation including annual raises and cost of living stipends, manageable workloads, and purposeful work and fulfillment that it otherwise boasts.
And honestly, straight up appauling the reality they abusively force feed down your throat, with belittlement, micromanagement and fear mongering. Do yourself a favor and save yourself the hardship I had experienced for too long and don't give it a second thought.
