low pay and can be tiring

in the few months i worked there, i realised that “good” shifts, or more shifts will be given to part-timers who learn fast. not to say that they are biased, but they have a certain expectation that needs to be met (often unspoken). was a good thing for me, because i learned fast. management was good.

if you’re a slow learner, your shifts may be “taken” from you. the manager may update the shifts for the rest of the month, and you may realise that you have fewer shifts as compared to the schedule that was originally sent out. only a con if you’re not able to learn fast enough. another con would be the pay. if you’re a student working part-time, $11/hour is not too bad. but if you have a family to support, even working full-time shifts may not be enough
