Pros

I was able to work from home

Cons

- didn’t match clients appropriately with skill set - only approved 3-4 hrs A MONTH for emails, entering hours, and biweekly meetings with your manger (so you work for free because you can use those hours in a week) - under pay their marketing assistants by giving them the title assistant instead of manager (should be marketing managers based on the the work asked of them) - no client organization or regulation - high turnover (at least 3 VA’s quit while I was there a month) - Small client workload (think 15-20hrs a month, so if you’re full time working 40hrs, that’s 8-10 clients with each client having different logins/communication platforms (up to 5 for EACH that you’re expected to monitor daily, so 40 communication platforms/email accounts a day!) Ends up being a lot of wasted time switching back and forth that you’re not paid for… Bottom line, don’t waste your time!!

We’re sorry you felt this way about your experience at Equivity. It is important to us that our clients and employees both feel the relationship and skill set are the right fit. That’s why we provide VAs the ultimate decision on whether to take a client on. We outline what the clients’ needs are, both in type of work and hours involved so employees can make an informed decision. Your client experience manager is always there for you should there be any issues with clients, workload, type of work, or any other issue. We take pride in being responsive to our employees’ needs. This does however require being able to communicate any issues. We’re also are 100% transparent during the interview process as to exactly what the pay will be and that hours can fluctuate depending on the workload of the virtual assistant’s clients. For employees that are comfortable communicating what their needs are and willing to take advantage of the resources available to them, Equivity is a great fit.

This felt like a scam.

Pros

Remote work and flexible schedule. For example, if you operate on PST, you can work early morning hours for a client sitting in EST.

Cons

Working at Equivity felt like a scam. My clients offered me very little hours but expected a lot of work in return. You're expected to take on a lot (4-5) clients at a time who offer you very little billable time and pray those hours add up to something substantial. They try to get over by encouraging the client sign up for a small hours package. When you work for that client, you're expected to get a ton of work done in a very short amount of time. Run out of hours to bill? You'll need to request an increase in order to keep getting paid. I'd only recommend this to someone who really needs to work at home and doesn't mind doing a lot of work for very little pay. On top of that, you won't be offered much in the way of support from management or HR.

Unsupportive upper management and low pay

Pros

Everyone is great except for the CEO and HR Department.

Cons

Unsupportive management at the top (with CEO and HR). Rest of management is fantastic. Does not value your feedback or provide any positive reinforcement. Seem oblivious to the unhappiness of the team below them. Everyone, especially management, is drastically underpaid. The company brags about all of these great 'benefits' but they are really crap. They nickel and dime internal hours and do not care about their team - they only care about money.
