Pros

My team, they made it easier to manage the toxic work environment. And we all resigned around the same time

Cons

They let go of most of the managers on my team because they went against management's REALLY BAD decisions towards the customers. CEO is a toxic man-child who doesn't like to be questioned. They treat the customers like they are cash-cows. No integrity, they will withhold your money for a service you want to cancel and say it's "refund policy". If you are a "yes-man", then you might get promoted. But if you dare question Mark, you wouldn't last long. You'll be fired for some dumb reason. This happened in my team. One time were owed salaries, and the CEO basically said not to bother him because some people in the team asked for updates on when we would get paid. He said we shouldn't bombard the Slack channel with questions about OUR OWN MONEY and he would let us know when we will get paid. The audacity. Almost everybody I started with in the company left in less than 1.5 years, and I didn't last long there either. That should tell you something. Ignore ALL the positive reviews, they're from the "YES-MEN". Unless things have changed in the last few months, which I highly doubt, no person with integrity or self-respect will leave a positive review here.

A perfect place if you're a yes man / woman

Pros

The company is certainly helping people start companies and making it easier for them to do so.

Cons

The founder and CEO, Mark, is a laughable excuse for a leader. I've witnessed him routinely berate employees in public Slacks, calling them all sorts of demeaning names. Any attempt to get him to stop or learn from these flaws is met with defiance. Despite being 23 and this being his first exposure to startups, he possesses a "my way or the highway" mindset and working style, and is rarely receptive to feedback regarding resolving business initiatives. He refuses to listen to alternative ideas, ways of working and achieving outcomes, and categorically rejects any opportunity to be challenged. If you do in fact challenge him, know that your days will be numbered. It's no wonder Firstbase has such a hard time building a culture - anyone with experience that challenges the status quo or offers their perspective on solving problems gets shown the door; it was a maddening place to work watching it happen to multiple people. If you are comfortable being a person that only says "yes" and don't mind working for a loose cannon that's shown no interest in changing his ways, then this is the place for you. Tread carefully.
