Pros

The bank pays decent salaries and this year's insurance is acceptable. I would be hard pressed to find any other positives.

Cons

I rarely post reviews, but after CEO Kent Ellert’s furious outburst last week over the negative reviews on here and the subsequent “positive” reviews he had his underlings write (one person wrote two), I felt the need to make my opinion known. I have known Ellert for several years and it wasn’t his tirade that was disturbing, but rather his narcissistic need to have false positive reviews posted. The negative reviews on here are 100% correct. For a bank that claims ethics as a core value, it is sorely lacking in any semblance of ethical behavior. I have witnessed numerous ethical violations, that when reported, fall on deaf ears. The same is true with the numerous labor law violations that occur daily at Florida Community Bank. For those wondering which reviews are real, ask yourself the following questions which can be verified to be accurate (FCB is now a public company). Why has FCB had 4 Chief Financial Officers since its founding in 2009? Why is FCB’s employee turnover rate FAR above the average for the industry? Why does the bank contribute next to nothing to the communities it serves? Why does the bank close far more checking accounts than it opens? Why did FCB close roughly 20 branches within the last year and layoff a large percentage of its workforce? Why can’t the bank eliminate its enormous portfolio of bad loans? And why does FCB force its employees to direct deposit into an FCB account or pay a fee per account per financial institution? Ask yourself these questions, and the REAL Florida Community Bank will be revealed. I want to make one more point. The reviewer who compared Florida Community Bank and CEO Ellert to failed Orion Bank and its CEO Jerry Williams is right on. For those not familiar with Orion, a quick Google search will disclose the details. It’s not comforting to realize that FCB is headed the same way. Yes, FCB IS “creepy and Orwellian,” it IS extremely shady and unethical, employee morale is EXTREMELY low, and FCB will NOT enhance your standing in the banking community or community as a whole.

Pros

There are some great people working in my office. They dislike the bank and Kent Ellert as well.

Cons

Where to start? The negative reviews on here have focused on the many dysfunctional aspects of Florida Community Bank. But due to the unbelievably bad working atmosphere, I feel the need to give my input. The atmosphere is so toxic and anxiety levels are so high, that turnover is through the roof. Within the local banking community, Florida Community Bank and CEO Kent Ellert have a very poor reputation. Thus, working here can be a real career stopper. One district manager likes to talk about "rock stars" but FCB has a very difficult time recruiting and retaining quality people. Many of the really talented employees leave fast. In addition, if you try to leave, there is the very real chance that the bank will blacklist you. As I stated in my review title, FCB is a very creepy, Orwellian place to work. Kent Ellert is referred to reverently as Our Leader and the senior management is referred to as Your Leaders (ALWAYS capitalized). FCB uses propaganda (and I don't use this word lightly) very reminiscent of North Korea (Dear Leader), and Orwell's "1984" and "Animal Farm." And the controversies and scandals that erupt at the higher levels of the bank are worthy of the Byzantine Court intrigues of the Middle Ages. The term Byzantinism accurately describes FCB. And as part of Byzantinism, the bank is a bureaucratic nightmare. Good luck trying to get a correct answer, something done quickly and efficiently or someone to take ownership of an issue. You would have better luck trying to have a pleasant experience while dealing with the IRS. Working at the corporate office in Weston, you see this dysfunctional bureaucracy on a daily basis. Interestingly, while employees are micromanaged to the nth degree (the amount of reporting paperwork is utter lunacy), there is a total lack of leadership and communication (everything at FCB seems to be a state secret). Those that can, lead. Those that can't, micromanage. The lack of business education and savvy by senior management is stunning and the treatment of lower level employees, who are regularly berated publicly, is unconscionable. This lack of business acumen is demonstrated in the bank's lack of a marketing strategy and it's net loss in checking accounts and bad loan portfolio. Do not let the 5 star rating fool you, this bank is very unsound. They cannot even get their own employees to open accounts. As a last measure, they resorted to REQUIRING employees to have their pay direct deposited into an FCB account, have a check mailed to them (days later), or pay $30 to have their pay direct deposited into an account at another institution. Pitiful. Maybe employees do not want to bank at FCB because they see the way the bank monitors customers. By using various methods, the bank builds a database that pres into the lives of its customers. To conclude, I would advise potential employees to stay well away from Florida Community Bank.

Pros

Hours. No Saturdays. Good insurance.

Cons

Putting up with verbal abuse and egos that reach the moon. The bank resembles a dictatorship. Run by unprofessional previous Bank of America employees that like to make up their own version of a bank as they go along.
