Pros

- This review is a genuine review of what it's actually like to work at Fnatic. - Amazing and friendly people in most teams. - Flexible working, wfh opportunities in all roles. - Unlimited annual leave (also a con, as it's technically not unlimited) - A few seniors push for excellence. - Praise is given to people when they do a good job through slack and weekly emails. - Fundraising is starting after

Cons

- Over the past 14 months, the company has gone through TWO rounds of redundancies, which created uncertainty and concern among employees. The first round occurred last year and more recently, another round took place unexpectedly, causing distress among the staff. - HR don't investigate issues, they make judgements based on assumptions. Very biased. - No office culture and no socials, 70% of employees don't come into the office for that very reason. -Unlimited annual leave policy is actually bogus because you are judged if you take around 30 days. - Fnatic is very last minute in all aspects. Strategies are all over the place. - There is an ‘inner circle’ here at Fnatic, a small group of seniors. They all run the decision making of the company, often alongside the CEO. They’re also the most frequently promoted funnily enough. - The company predominantly hires junior or entry-level employees, with only a few exceptions for mid or experienced professionals. This hiring strategy may be aimed at reducing salary expenses but it can result in a lack of expertise and mentorship opportunities for junior staff. - Low pay across all departments (apart from the seniors!!). - Some employees consistently receive praise and preferential treatment, creating a perception of bias within the company. I see and hear about how others get demotivated because of this. - I’ve lost count of how many office administrators we’ve had in the last 3 years. No staff retention initiatives in place. That role needs revamping! - They only care about mental health/LGBTQ week/month etc when the time actually comes. Otherwise it's RARELY ever spoken about throughout the year. - Senior management dont push for excellence across their team. Most also dont know how to even lead a team and get the best out of people. - Partnerships team are untouchable. Other departments have taken hits for their mistakes for ages.

Pros

Interesting work, great people to work with, good place to develop your skills.

Cons

Pay is poor, expect to fight for a payrise, constant changes in the company direction and goals, two rounds of redundancies in 18 months doesn't give you a sense of security.

Pros

I think the company could be a really fun and exciting place to work - if you have the right manager and can ignore all the obvious awfulness of how the company is run.

Cons

Where do I start?! Working here sent me back to therapy. The style of management was like something I had never experienced before. Never have I had a manager breathing down my neck like I did here; to the point where I felt I couldn't even leave my desk to go to the bathroom, in case my manager happened to message me during those minutes and then accuse me of not pulling my weight. They have meetings to discuss meetings about meetings - to the point where actually getting any work done feels impossible. When I started there, the team pulled out all the stops to make the company and team look like the best place to work - but once all that fell away it became very clear that it was not. In fact other members of my team admitted to crying on several occasions over how our manager treated them. Not exactly the super fun work environment the companies over the top website would have you believe it is.

Fnatic Response

Thank you for your feedback. We can say with a high degree of confidence that the Fnatic outlined here is not the one we experience day-to-day and not reflective of the work culture our staff enjoy. Listening to our staff is a critical part of how we operate at Fnatic. Our managers receive sentiment feedback from staff weekly, and we act quickly to address issues underlying any sentiment score below neutral. We also partner with DEI organisation Fair HQ for the purpose of listening to our staff, and having most recently completed a survey of all staff in December 2022, we scored very highly in the areas of psychological safety (7.5/10) and belonging (7.9/10) - scores at a level that puts Fnatic amongst the highest performing organisations who also use the platform. More specifically on people management, we received the following scores on these specific questions put to staff: - "My manager gives me the feeling that we're all in it together": 8.2/10 - "When I talk to my manager, it feels safe to discuss anything": 8.4/10 Our scores in all of the areas mentioned above seem quite unlikely if the environment you describe was the Fnatic reality. That said, we'll not be satisfied until we hit 10/10, but these results are a pleasing reflection of our culture as it stands. It goes without saying this is not a nice review for us to read - but we also recognise a platform such as Glassdoor will unfortunately at times be used as a outlet by individuals to air views that which are not representative of the Fnatic environment. Nevertheless, we respect your right to share your point of view, and will continue listening to our staff to drive improvements in our culture.
