Currently there is a trend of lower student population, thus fewer and fewer courses are being offered. Limited courses means that full time employees have to maintain their full load, bumping part time instructors from their usual classes. .67 academic year is the most a PT can teach. However, very few can even get to that load level with the class reductions. Benefits used to be paid in full if you taught over a .5 load. Now they pay a percentage where I currently have to pay $800/month for a family of 4 and they pay the remaining.

-Hard to move up, only if you are in 'the goods' with management. -Faculty and staff becoming too complacent, which leads to poor performances -Hard for management to fire or let go of unproductive people -The system is so bad because it's based on seniority and not skills -Promotion are limited after you completed all your steps -Union: dislike because I don't see any benefit to it because having to pay union fees, which is ridiculous -Reclassification is crazy because you actually have to perform out of your duties or at a higher level for quite some time first before requesting for reclass. Also, it's not up to management to approve of the reclass it's HR. I don't get that. How would HR know when they don't work with that individual on a daily basis.
