Pros

Colleagues in my team. Weekends off. Free coffee and tea. Not a lot of pros to be honest, it was awful.

Cons

From day one it became clear that it was not what you know but who you know. The only thing I took from my experience was that sucking up to management gets your further than anything else in life. The people that worked in the office as coordinators and senior coordinators were mostly not intelligent people, lazy and moaned frequently. There were a few coordinators that showed intelligence, hard work and initiative but these were disliked by management and were almost black listed. Management made it clear that there was a definite hierarchy and people were treated differently depending on your job level. For example above coordinator level it appeared you could listen to music on headphones but not otherwise. It was a very school like environment. Also some people received benefits that others did not in the same situation e.g sick days not being recorded for certain preferred members of staff to save them up, or days being recorded as compassionate leave for one person because of a situation but not for another in the exact same situation. It was sold as such a good firm with good values and no hierarchy and this was simply not the case. Senior coordinators (mostly) were worse than the coordinators themselves so would be expected to check work but didn't understand what was going on. They were also very lazy and often avoided checking work by pretending they were busy, ignoring coordinators or even flat out refusing to do their job. There is no training given and the management do not listen when you say you're struggling. They will throw things on you and do not listen to your feelings. If you have been blacklisted you will be ignored by management and the little cliques they create. You will also never get a promotion regardless of how good you are at your job, promotions are given to uncharismatic people with no skills or management ideas, but who are happy to act robotic in the way management wish them to.

Pros

I can't think of any reason someone would want to work here. No pros of working here. The job left me in tears most days, not somewhere worth working

Cons

I worked in the Sheffield office as a coordinator for a year. This was honestly the most toxic work environment I have come across in my whole life. There was an expectation on my team to stay beyond my working hours & if I did leave on time be sure it was frowned upon. The firm exploit staff by paying coordinators £16,000 and HR lure new employees in by promising "progression". It's only when you start your job you understand how much pressure the role put you under & not to mention high workload which includes working on multiple cases, drafting applications, letters & emails to mention a few. But what they paid was similar to that of a receptionist but expect you to do the same work as a paralegal. The job drains you of your life and your sanity. I knew a lot of people sticking it out due to financial reasons but hated the job. Fragomen are the modern day slave drivers. Having only opened in January 2016 atleast 30 people have left by end of year and the office is STILL half empty. People are made false promises of progression but for the coordinator job you are closely monitored to the point each task you do is timed and target driven once people came to realisation, they left and its a constant cycle of recruitment. There was also a sense of of separation between coloured and non coloured staff in Sheffield. In particular with management team in Sheffield who were known only to speak to and mingle with those of a White background. Progression internally in Sheffield was also given to those that were "close" to the manager in Sheffield. Promotion was done on a basis as to who you know and not your skills. For a world leading immigration law firm, this is worrying and I am glad I left that horrible possibly racist firm.

Pros

HR team are great!! Cannot fault them in any way. Oh and it's opposite a really good bar...

Cons

I'm thoroughly surprised that so many people reviewing on here lasted so long! I worked at Fragomen for 3 months which was 2 months and 3 weeks too long. The first week was great, good praise and mentoring, until the second week when you are left to your own devices and get serious attitude from management when asking questions. I had more help from my colleagues than ever from my manager. Making one mistake will lead I disciplinary action, so if you are a firm believer of "try and try again" and "you learn from your mistakes", like myself, then this place is not for you. Absolutely diabolical management techniques. I can only imagine that the Fragomen management training slides begin with "how to insult and belittle your employees".
