    I worked at FreshBooks full-time

    Pros

    - good personal growth opportunities & challenges
     - amazing colleagues & passionate people
     - genuine customer empathy

    Cons

No specific cons. FreshBooks is going through a period of change and finding new ways to scale more efficiently, which for some can be hard to adjust to.

    Advice to Management

Continue to manage staff through change. Push to scale and standardize, but don't lose sight of the amazing values, passion and personality that made FreshBooks so special.

I worked at FreshBooks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Great coworkers, smart talented people to learn from.
    - The CEO is a talented and smart guy.
    - They try to keep up with technology changes.
    - There is some kind of attempts at innovating more now. So I will give them that.

    Cons

    - Product Development is now stale, and the focus is more on marketing and acquisition.
    - They hire for a culture that is long gone.
    - Tons of politics, even though they say there is not.
    - Money over people is a trend these days.
    - VC. It will drive any company to do what it takes to show results.
    - Lack of transparency
    - So, the CEO is a talented and smart guy. But so much is happening in front of him that he doesn't notice. Which ends up in him preaching a discourse that doesn't match reality.
    - All departments are disjointed and don't work well together.
    - Lack of opportunities to grow.
    - Location. Why commute to the junction while you can work downtown?

    Advice to Management

People are leaving because they don't feel appreciated anymore, they are bored and disengaged. Focus on people again. They are the ones that build what you sell, without them there are no results.

Do a revision on salaries. Folks are underpaid compared to the industry. A nice office with dogs doesn't make up for it.

I have been working at FreshBooks full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people, top talents - one team culture/ mindset. Flexibility & lots of perks. CEO seems to be a good who knows how to earn respect

    Cons

Some dept. not like it used to be. Intimidating management which makes a lot scared of or not comfortable talking to freely (bouncing thoughts/ideas).
Some get pushed away / bullied out of door which makes others not happy, demotivated & shut-down.

    Not the FreshBooks I know

    Advice to Management

CEO & Managment to step in - at least collect feedback and explain changes to the staff.

I have been working at FreshBooks full-time

    Pros

The people and the dedication they all have in serving our customers.

    Cons

As people get so focused on doing a good job, managers can tend to neglect career coaching and progression opportunities by making time to give feedback, etc.

I have been working at FreshBooks full-time

    Pros

Beautiful office with perks like snacks, drinks, on-site gym and library, nap rooms, dog-friendly, etc.

Company genuinely cares about employees, benefits are generous, time off is encouraged, management is accessible.

    Cons

Seems like management doesn't like to deliver bad news, constructive criticism included. New employees are just constantly told they are doing a great job with sparkles and smiles, and long term employees get away with everything - coming from a long-term employee myself.

    Advice to Management

Help employees grow in a way that is constructive and not infantilizing. Also, we have a huge exec team made up of white men, what's up with that?

I have been working at FreshBooks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

As someone who is looking to break into the tech industry, this is a great place. There is a lot going on and I am constantly busy. The tech stack is pretty modern and the office has dogs.
The people are the best - I really mean it. The company prides itself on having a strong culture and I think there are some obvious improvements to be made, but overall people seem very happy to come to work.
Management is very transparent, employees are aware of current numbers and investment and they try to keep everyone informed.

    Cons

The perks aren't as great as some other companies (Shopify, Flipp, PagerDuty, etc) but I think that will come with growth. Lunches only provided one day a week.
Struggling to go from the start up mentality into a full-blown "company", there are some growing pains.

    Advice to Management

Keep pushing forward, your employees love you and want to build this product together. I appreciate how transparent you are, but wish that the perks were updated a bit more to reflect other similar companies in the industry.
