London office requires a lot of help.
Pros
Aside from the main manager, second in command was very helpful. Colleagues themselves were kind and helpful. You can learn a lot and it does help when looking for a different job.
Cons
In relation to the London Office No place for progression, you're pretty much in the same position throughout your career (especially in the London office). The management was shabby, he basically did what he pleased. Would say he was in meeting but would lunch and gym nearly all day. He also lied to a colleague that he would need to extend his resignation period when really he just needed people to work. Everybody quits. Only one female worked there. Expected to stay behind and work but you do not get any pay for it unless you ask (even then, you will have to go through hell just to get it) Several colleagues had issues with pay rise, some even having to wait over 5months after the newly agreed salary. Our manager also put alcohol in a non-alcoholic drink during a Christmas party to a colleague who was muslim. The same manager later shouted at everyone during the next Christmas party because we were all rubbish (much ruder) They have a failed system when it comes to pay rise, some people were getting pay rises every other 4/5months some where only getting it after a year an a half when we all did the same job and had same experience. Over on the US side, they had no real idea what was going on and what the standard was for a pay increase for the UK. Overall, I would say if you are doing it for the experience go for it. My advice is that this is not a place you intend to stay long for and make use of the several links with the other law firms.
