Pros

-Fast-paced and start-up feel -Very cool product you get to work with! Although there are many alternatives like Vital Proteins!

Cons

-CEO pays significantly lower than industry standards and only shows decency to people that know her prior to the interview (not a good job if you're an outsider) -Her CMO gets paid less than $30,000 and puts in an enormous amount of hours for the job. -This is NOT a company you want to work for.

I am sorry to hear about your experience at Further Food. As the CEO of Further Food, I value and take seriously all feedback. These have been an exciting couple of years at Further Food as we’ve grown quickly. You are correct, we are fast-paced and we work hard to create amazing products and customer experiences. We also highly value personal time (we have unlimited vacations) and actively support remote work options. Our team is mostly women, and we support and encourage work/life balance and flexible schedules, as this makes for healthier and happier employees! Some of your feedback is perplexing, making me wonder if you’ve actually worked with me or our team. We have had many interns and contractors work with us, none of whom I personally knew prior to interviews. All our current employees are “outsiders” as in I didn’t know any of them previously. We are a close-knit team, and everyone treats everyone with respect, curiosity, and openness. I personally spend a lot of time with every person who has worked in the Further Food ecosystem: training them and helping them to understand our company’s values, products, and our greater mission: to help everyone eat better and go further...to live healthier, active lives. Regarding your comment about salary, we have flagged this review as containing incorrect information. We’ve never had a “CMO” at Further Food or any full-time C- level employee earning a salary of less than $30,000. Please feel free to reach out to me personally if you wish to discuss your experience and concerns. Wishing you the best of luck. Lillian Zhao, CEO of Further Food

Great product, Not so great work environment

Pros

The product is genuinely great quality, which I think is rare within the supplements industry. There is a lot of opportunity to be hands-on and gain experience.

Cons

1. The work environment was absolutely terrible. Work/life balance was virtually non-existent; The CEO would ping you at odd hours/on weekends to do non-essential things. It's widely understood startups need to be all-hands-on-deck and are fast-paced, but most CEOs know there are still boundaries. 2. It was very difficult to complete deliverables on time because the CEO was very opinionated and wanted to be involved in every little detail. While processes were being created to streamline tasks, the CEO wanted to control every single detail of a project, consistently creating road blocks. It was a consistent cycle of creating deliverables on time, re-doing them based on her opinions, and then getting criticized for not getting it right the first time. 3. Team moral was poor because the CEO consistently pointed out inadequacies and rarely gave us the praise we deserved. I don't think I ever heard her thank the team for their hard work (and every department worked their butts off). It was very difficult to be excited about waking up for work each day at this company.

Great product, bad leadership and work culture

Pros

- Great work life balance - people don’t care when and how you work as long as you get your job done and attend scheduled meetings. Unlimited vacations, a lot of flexibility in remote work options - The product is actually really great. - Smaller startup allows you to acquire a lot of new skills and experience really quickly

Cons

- Pay is significantly lower than industry standards - CEO is toxic. Would verbally berate people during all hands calls in front of the entire company. - No culture of innovation or thinking outside the box. Leadership is not open to new points of view; only wants people to execute what they want done vs giving new ideas. People are often hired to do a job, but not given the trust to do their job or use their expertise - No vision for the company or where it’s going, which results in unclear priorities and leadership guidance - Benefits are minimal - Low team morale due to leadership rarely giving praise or acknowledgment of accomplishments - Questionable business practices when it comes to the company’s handling of candidate interview process, employee hiring, and consumer transparency (employees are often asked to do things they are uncomfortable with, like write reviews for products they have not yet used)
