I joined this company with genuine enthusiasm and a strong work ethic. My numbers were good, something that was even acknowledged by senior leadership when I resigned. Yet the experience I had on the industrial team was one of the most toxic, stressful and demoralising of my career, and I feel it is important to share this so others can make an informed decision.
What I experienced:
The culture within the industrial team was one of constant pressure, threats, and micromanagement. Follow-ups and demands came in regularly late at night, sometimes as late as 11 PM, no weekends and long weekends in here. There was no boundary between personal time and work, and this was treated as completely normal.
When concerns arose, the response from leadership was not support or coaching; instead, it was threats. Commissions and WFH that are part of your contract can be used as leverage. Responsibilities can be threatened to be taken away. Working arrangements can be held over your head. All of this creates a very toxic environment
There was also a very clear double standard in how accountability was applied. Mistakes or gaps from managers vs same issues from other team members were handled differently, using abusive language and talking behind the back was a normal thing here. They follow divide and rule to make sure the team doesn't get along.
Leadership language was demeaning and dismissive, always finding fault, the kind of language that makes you feel like your efforts are never enough, no matter how hard you work.
I was not the only one who felt this way. Multiple people left, citing the same environment. That pattern alone should speak volumes.
My questions for management:
— If an employee's numbers are good, why are they threatening and micromanaging them?
— Why are after-hours messages at 10–11 PM considered acceptable and normal?
— Why is accountability applied differently depending on who is involved?
— What is being done to address the pattern of resignations/firing from this team?
— Is leadership aware of how it impacts the mental health and performance of their team?
