Pros

Surrounded by creative people, who make office life a lot more enjoyable. You are recognized for going above and beyond expectations. Yearly trips to celebrate the company's anniversary.

Cons

The CEO micromanages every project. Unrealistic project budgeting and timelines cause team members to work more than 40 hours a week on a frequent basis. You are expected to do the work outside of office hours without being asked - and if you don't you are seen as a "bad employee". There is very little effort to promote from within here. External sources are always considered before the hard-working people already employed at Gavin. If you want a job that opened, you have to apply and compete with others that have never stepped foot within Gavin for the job. Management does not accept feedback to the structure of the workplace or the processes. They will listen, although reluctantly, to what your concerns are, and then literally do nothing about it. There is no HR here. The CEO of the company is HR. Most of the concerns people have they would rather not talk to the CEO about - but that is your only option. There is no "middle-man" to mediate situations between employees and senior management.

Hello. First, thank you for your review. As a fast growing company, we are always looking to advance through honest feedback from our team. It’s important to us that potential hires have access to the most current and accurate information on Gavin as they consider employment, and we can’t help but be skeptical of this review as a current/recent employee, as it does not reflect our organizational chart or internal processes. The entire creative team reports to the VP of Client Services and Project Managers (PMs) report to Directors for all review of work. As a growing company, we place enormous focus and importance on nurturing our teammates as part of our We Culture. This includes making investments in training and internal mentorship efforts. Over the past two years, we have promoted three employees internally and have advanced an intern to a full-time coordinator position. If you are a current employee, we encourage you to speak to our Controller with any HR issues, as she oversees all employee benefit and HR issues, should an employee not feel comfortable going to their Director, VP of Client Services or the CEO. Thank you, The Gavin Team
