Management is a clique and if you don't fit what is deemed acceptable your work life will be rough. Witnessed several of my coworkers being harassed into leaving by the management clique. I exited on what was less than great terms but still look at it as the best move for my professional career. After being there for a decade didn't see anything changing for the better. I still have some friends in the building but they are scared of letting the management know we still keep in touch.
HR was unable to do the right thing when dealing with issues between employees and their direct supervisors. Witnessed over a dozen situations where there were disputes but not once did I see or hear that the issue was resolved. What always happened was the employee was put on notice and they either left of were separated from the company. Advice, don't complain to HR and resolve any issues with your direct supervisor and plan an exit plan.
Advancement at Geiger has a glass ceiling for all but a chosen few. VP's usually have a relationship with the Geigers and even the present CEO had a very personal relationship with the previous CEO. Guess it's the nature of a family owned business. Also, when employees were mistreated by management in a cruel attempt at humor it was a joke but one time it was done to the former CEO and I was shown the angry, threatening response he emailed to the whole company and was glad I'm out of that environment.
Because of the above listed Cons I found the environment to be toxic. I just had a freind ask about a job listed at Geiger today and had to tell her to pass.
