Management would struggle to deliver a pizza, let alone a billion dollar fusion reactor
Pros
Nice atmosphere, friendly people. If you want to make your own little pointless science experiment that will never amount to anything worthwhile, then to be fair to these guys, they can turn that stuff around remarkably quickly. It's their speciality. They blew their financing on moving to a new building rather than doing quality engineering, so it's a nice environment to work in! Free lunch twice a week. You can drink your body weight in sugary drinks at no additional cost.
Cons
No realistic long term product. If you want to change the world for the better, this is not the place for you. CEO seems nice, but he's a finance guy, so he has to rely on his so-called senior leadership team to understand any of the technical stuff. Maybe this is why there's so much hype and so little substance behind the GF tech. Most of the senior people have spent the vast majority of their careers at GF, and have never worked on actually delivering something. The failure of the demonstration project in UK that no one wanted to pay for is probably no coincidence. Despite all the free sugary drinks, I never did find the kool-aid that everyone else has clearly been drinking for the last 20 years!
