Pros

Great Internal development programmes. Sales to management development. Good incentives from brands.

Cons

Felt very unsafe on the shop floor, due to value of goods. Felt you had no support from senior management and constant pressure and accountability. Lots of favouritism.

Pros

There isn't many pros to talk about if I'm honest. The only ones I can think of are the feelings you get after seeing a happy couple newly engaged, or the smile on peoples faces when they purchase their wedding rings. Or a customer had been saving for their favourite watch, and they can finally afford to buy the £2000+ item!

Cons

The management was terrible. I was constantly singled out, bullied, harassed. I had no choice but to move on. If I had a problem and I tried to report it, nothing would ever get done. It has been by far the worst company I have ever worked for, and I have worked in mcdonalds. I requested to be trained into becoming a member of management and I just got laughed at, there was no help or training provided either. - I will rate career opportunities as a 3 star because there are many, but they just don't want to train you. The senior management never done anything when my concerns were raised, I had my 4 weeks notice period to work and I requested to be transferred to another store as the bullying got worse, but nothing had been done about this. I ended up quitting a week before my notice period ended because I was put down on medical for stress. They expect you to do 9-6 5 days a week and even after the 6pm mark is over they like to keep you there an extra hour unpaid, so there is no work/life balance at all.

Pros

Good incentives with very good rewards.

Cons

No training given, apart from E-learning online modules. No induction or welcome day. New employees are left to their own devices with no help or support from management. There is no work life balance, no regular shift pattern you do not have more than one day off between shifts, never two in a row and will be expected to work every weekend and late nights. Manager abuses her power and is renowned for bullying staff members. It is a negative working atmosphere where you are constantly on edge. The company core values are not emulated within this store. I would warn anyone not to apply to work for Metro centre Goldsmiths. They are unprofessional and will make you're life a living hell.
