Pros

Friendly colleagues and great atmosphere. Flexible lunch hours.

Cons

Didn't know what they wanted - tried to convert all digital US publications into metric system to print at UK sizes, before deciding they were just going to use their publications as is. Spent a lot of time updating the website with new imagery, but never actually designing anything for the website as it was built externally.

Good people, horrible management

Pros

The "team" was great to work with, they often went to lunch and drinks together after hours. The team and the people are really the only "positives" here. Actually - the work and product lines are interesting too - however the bad just far outweighs the 'good' parts of the job - which is the sad and unfortunate thing. I'm still on very good terms with my former team and manager. We got along well together and did some great work - even though most of it never saw the light of day due to the CEO's insistence on changing things last minute.

Cons

Well for one, read the reviews here - the positive ones are written by management to offset the bad (I saw it while I was there and know some of the people 'tasked' to write the good reviews). The review mentioning the phone being thrown out of the window in a meeting is also true - the CEO had good days and bad - if you caught him on a bad - watch out. The CEO is very hands-on, which is good and bad. He is very intelligent and knows the analytical instruments and chemistry front and back - if he could stick to focusing on those things - the company would be a lot better than it is. Unfortunately, he micro-manages everything and doesn't give his managers any room to make decisions on their own. He also changes his mind - often. Rework is a day to day occurrence, and its easy to get frustrated as your always going back to change things that were previously "approved". I can only imagine the millions lost there due to last minute scraps and redesigns of major projects. There were multiple instances where people were fired in "groups", sales people were especially vulnerable to being let go with little notice or reason, however I saw managers and others also let go because the CEO was simply in one of his 'moods'. Its sad, the people there are great, and they make a solid product. This company has so much potential - but the CEO in my mind holds it back due to his volatile personality.
