Pros

Growth opportunities had they stuck to their word.

Cons

Overpromised and under delivered-I was sold a vision of what was to come, which after my hard work none of this every came to be. Zero structure, there was not SOP's and even when trying to implement some I was shot down for "asking too many questions." There were many toxic expectations and standards within this company, which were highly unrealistic and undercompensated for. They gave a very disrespectful exit, after telling me how much of a bind they would be in if I were to do the same thing to them. There was no feedback, every time I asked if there were ways I could do better or improve I was told that I was doing great until everything suddenly switched in a day. There was no coaching, just criticism when something didn't go perfectly.

Pros

There was no pros working for this company.

Cons

Reason 1: When I first started waxing at Hello Sugar there were receptionists who were getting paid $15 an hour. By the 3rd month of my employment they let go all of the receptionists and made the waxers who were commission only do their reception work for free. They also expected us to do extra cleaning around the salon that the receptionists used to do, while not properly compensating us for it. We only got paid per client, not an hourly salary that compensated us for any extra work besides waxing. Reason 2: My 6th month of employment I was 7 1/2 months pregnant and I was supposed to take a client whose service would last 2 hours and 45 minutes. I didn’t think I could physically do so, so I called my doctor and was advised not to. I then went and got a doctors note stating I need to take a break and be able to eat or drink every hour. Management told me that if I need accommodations to let them know. The next day I was working by myself, waxing and reception. And they booked me solid from 8:30 am to 2 pm, with no breaks, not even a lunch break. I contacted management asking if anyone can come help me and I was met with “if you can’t do the bare minimum you will need to figure something else out.” I had a doctors note and was asking for accommodations that management offered just the day before. I don’t feel like my rights as a pregnant woman were protected, even with instructions from my doctor. I am currently looking into filing a lawsuit against this company for medical discrimination, leading to me being forced to quit for mine and my baby’s health.

Pros

Free waxing as a employee

Cons

The training, their ridiculous contract, the money. They will sell you a great job like you’re going to be so busy and make good money. But it’s so hard to make money. And they’re super membership focused. They’re new client offer basically only attracts vacation waxers and cheap people. The contract is crazy. And you will be expected to be available 4 times a month on your day off for a oncall shift . Run away. Don’t settle
