Pros

I have worked at IMS for a while and have seen the work get more innovative and challenging as time has gone on which keeps the job interesting and makes you feel very invested and proud of the products delivered to very demanding and exacting customers. The telematics market is technologically competitive and the products need to constantly evolve which means the staff designing and building the products have to be hard working, clever, talented and innovative developers. The developers are mainly distributed between UK and Canada and work remotely with the option of coming into the offices as needed. The mix of experience and talent within the development community offers a good environment for like minded hard working people who want to make a difference in the delivering a quality market leading product. There are structured delivery teams (operating on 2 week sprints) who have clear objectives of what they need to deliver each sprint. Each team knows how their team fits in with other teams to deliver the overall company road map. Timescales can be challenging, but this is part of the attraction. The IT infrastructure and DevOps teams work very closely with the developers making the build/test/deploy process as simple as possible. The sales team is very switched onto the road map and where development is up to. They work very well with the Product department and Development department to manage deliveries and requirements and filter to what is actually needed and they help deliver the customer genuine value.

Cons

As the there is a lot of work to do with constant improvement and innovation, it can occasionally feel chaotic, but this is addressed when flagged. For developers who want to have an easy job, this is not the place for you.
