Pros

Good balance between personal and professional life overall. Gym and breakfast at the company.

Cons

I worked almost 4 years at Intelbras and have not received any promotion or even pay raise. It's too difficult to grow inside the company if you are not in the inner circle of management friends.

Pros

Location close to a suburb. Two yearly bonuses (about 1X your salary) based of company profit and team performance. You have to pay for the health care plan, but it's cheaper than market price.

Cons

Intelbras is a hierarchy of relationships and not competence. You will often find very incompetent people, incapable of doing their jobs who get by leaning on their coworkers with the support of management. These people have their well paid positions only because of relationships, such as family ties or specific social circles. Hard working technical people get to keep their jobs and high stress levels, but promotions only happen when you get a job offer in the middle of an important project. I saw a bunch of good people working like mad without a single salary increase in four years while getting cheap excuses and empty promises from management. Human resources is just for show and their internal anonymous surveys have terrible privacy issues. If you indicate that you are unsatisfied, your team will be punished by weeks of HR indoctrination that will interfere with your work schedule and serve as a punishment. The result becomes people openly lying to be left alone. People often get hired for one job position and end up filling in for more than two, even when the jobs are not related. If your coworker quits, management will just drop the workload on your lap, regardless of skill set compatibility. You are web developer? Now your are also a back end developer in a language you are not familiar with. "Don't worry, I have faith in you" Just pray the Android and IOS developer doesn't quit as well, he has been very stressed since the IOS guy quit. Development teams are called "self managed teams", but they still have a manager. The team is responsible for all projects decisions, including the ones that come from the manager. Management are often rich kids from influential families with little life experience and giant egos. Any good idea you come up with will be dismissed by management and become their idea once you leave the company or once enough time has passed. Intelbras has become, for the most part, a giant Chinese OEM. Their recent efforts of software development have been a disaster and management is amateur at best. They have developed such a bad reputation in the market that urgent technical jobs remain open for months. Salaries are generally bellow market, and a lot o people say that they work there for the bonus. Even in the midst of the worst financial crisis in Brazilian history, the good people are walking away or talking about leaving. The best professionals I worked with have left the company in the past 18 months. Also, everything at Intelbras that relates to your quality of life and comfort will be done on the cheap. The restaurant food is often disgusting, coffee is the cheapest crap imaginable and will give you acid reflex, airplane tickets at terrible hours to save a few bucks, cheap hotels at bad locations, crappy chairs, cold bathrooms with broken seats, old small low resolution monitors, cheap mouse and keyboards, the list could go on for a page.
