Pros
Some flexibility in emergencies, plenty of work most of the year, overtime. Work with all kinds of people. Benefits are decent.
Cons
Pay not commensurate with amount of work you have to do for labor jobs, although this is industry-wide problem. Company provides contract labor for auto distribution facilities to railroads and manufacturers so you could work a long time at a facility the lose the contract. Company once offered safety and damage incentives to help keep people around but no more. Too many upper management positions not enough pay increase at the bottom labor positions to encourage people to stay. Retaining talent at the unloading/loading and switching positions over the long-term is your biggest problem. When will this company get it.
