Pros

Potential for long-term employment in a utility industry, progression opportunities offered world-wide.

Cons

Constantly walking a tightrope of fear when at work, insufficient staff to run their plants safely (or at least to the standard they espouse), plants are getting old and need more money/personnel resources which they are not getting. Company management stuck in a cycle of introducing 'shiny new toys' in the shape of new company initiatives/plans etc far too often, so one is not properly thought out/implemented/completed before the next one comes along. Too many managers intent on climbing the career ladder who are ticking all of the boxes for their boss but not actually managing the staff they are supposed to be leading. Could be so much better than it is.

Pros

They pay salary competitive & benefits on a par with other power companies i.e. Eon, SSE, International Power.

Cons

Aggressive, bullying management style. Business run on fear. It has become well known throughout the UK generation business that Intergen are not a good employer to work for. Staff are all looking to find employment else where. The business has not reinvested in its power stations over many years. The business depends on gas fired generation which is not competitive in the UK market. Most of the year the stations are not running due to gas prices and contract issues. Over the past years numerous owners of the company have sold stake holding at a great loss!!!
