Excellent Mission, Poor Execution

Pros

JAARS is a part of Wycliffe Bible Translators, and Wycliffe has one of the best mission and vision statements. Flying for JAARS in the international setting allows pilots to be part of something exciting in exotic places of the world.

Cons

Training at JAARS is very learner-centric. Instructors lack current industry experience and do not take an active approach to teaching their students. JAARS does not present scenario-based training as a standard format. When and if they do, their approach is centered around pilot practice time instead of directed learning toward a stated goal. Best way to succeed at JAARS is to consistently receive training from a source(s) outside of the organization.

Pros

The trajectory of the culture at JAARS is trending upward as they embrace the younger generation of employees.

Cons

There are still many older generations that exists who remain stuck in the ways of old.
