Literally My Worst Job Ever

Pros

There is a potential to make decent to good money. That's IT.

Cons

Where do I even start? How about the hostile work environment? There's nothing like working for a boss who has no problem berating you both over the phone and via email. Schedulers at KSS are way overworked and underpaid. Lorri is a scheming, manipulative person who will cheat every last penny out of you that she possibly can. You are expected to work and be available to independent contractors (aka shoppers) 24 hours a day. The culture that's promoted at KSS is one of sheer negativity, pressure and just plain hostility. Lies are a part of the work on a constant basis. The CEO will throw you under the bus with a client just to try to save her own rear. I would not at all be surprised to find that some of the "reviews" here were planted by her. I have worked in this industry for close to a decade now and have never, ever met someone who was happy to work at KSS - and I've known a lot of current/former KSS employees and contractors. Unprofessional doesn't even start to describe this company. If you're thinking about working here, turn around and run away. There are PLENTY of other companies in this industry that will treat you like a professional and not like their slave.

Pros

Working from home, quality of life. I received a decent severance when I was laid off.

Cons

Management has a very hard time providing corrective feedback, you don't know your doing something wrong until it is too late to fix. After 3 years of dedicated service (in which I never received a performance evaluation or merit increases) I was let go for "financial reasons" and was told I would not be the only one. It turns out I was. Most "corrective feedback" from upper management was provided in profanity laced tirades and curt responses to questions. There is zero room for growth unless you take on more work and when asked for more work it is promised but never given. I passed on many other opportunities paying much more out of loyalty, Unfortunately that loyalty was never returned. I was managed in half truths and information that was solely convenient to them. I would obviously say more here, but I rather not end up in court (most negative comments and situations end up in some sort of legal action) due to the fact that it is impossible to just be honest. I was also told that my insurance was paid through the end of May 2015 only to discover (at the pharmacy) that it had expired at the end of April 2015. In addition I received little to no support while doing my job. This position while enjoyable on many levels was never going to be a career for me due to the lack of growth, leadership issues and a very serious lack of professionalism.

Pros

Casual and somewhat relaxed work environment.

Cons

Very poorly managed. Hostile work environment. Bonus structure not achievable. Statistics provided to potential employees regarding bonus was greatly exaggerated. Unrealistic expectations of staff to meet deadlines. Over promised to clients and then the staff suffered the consequences.

It's an inherent difficulty in this industry that clients have high expectations (because they have their own clients to answer to) but KSS has more industry experience and leverage than anyone else to manage those expectations reasonably and we actually turn down all business that has unreasonable demands. In fact, we turn down more business than we accept, because after 17 years in this industry we feel that we know what is reasonable and don't want to place unrealistic demands on our team! Some quick statistics: -Of our long term (3 to 15 year) employees, each of them bonus every single month, which proves that bonuses and earning potential is definitely achievable for those who learn how to schedule efficiently, aren't afraid of talking on the phone and learn the tricks of the trade that KSS has mastered since 1998. -Of our employees that have been at KSS 6 months to 3 years, 8 months out of 12 that they earn performance based bonuses on average. One employee in our Boston office just reached his 2 year anniversary and has achieved bonuses in excess of $500 per month for the last 8 months in a row! -92% of all employees that have been with KSS for more than 1 year have exceeded the income potential stated upon hiring. The vast majority of our employees state that the work environment is one of the biggest reasons to work at KSS (as you can see from our other glassdoor reviews). It is possible that this particular worker may have been a full time remote worker and we can acknowledge that it's easy to misinterpret electronic communications as opposed to face to face communications (which our in-office workers get and appreciate). It is confusing to us is that under "Pros" it states that it is a casual and somewhat relaxed work environment, but then later under "Cons" it states that it is a "hostile work environment". We are not sure how it can be both?
