Pros

I don't have five good words to say about this organization. Don't invest your time or your career in this organization.

Cons

I recently had the misfortune of working at Karmacheck, and I can confidently say it's one of the worst companies I've ever encountered. The lack of direction and limited to no strategic planning is alarming. The company seems to be operating on autopilot, relying solely on the SIA staffing list without any targeted ICP approach. This lack of focus is a major red flag. The CMO's lack of experience in the industry is evident in her ineffective and mismanaged approach. Her decisions often seem misguided and out of touch with the target market. She is floundering and relies on hiring friends and outside agencies. It's clear she lacks the expertise needed to lead a marketing organizations (this is likely because her experience is at the Director level). Perhaps most concerning is the founder's complete disregard for the toxic work environment. Despite numerous complaints and concerns raised by employees, there has been no meaningful action taken to address the issues. This indifference to employee well-being is unacceptable and creates a hostile work atmosphere. Completely shocking coming for the co-founder of LinkedIn. If you're considering working at Karmacheck, I strongly urge you to think twice. The company's lack of direction, ineffective leadership, and toxic culture make it a highly undesirable place to work.

KarmaCheck Thrives on Chaos

Pros

The people I work with are great. Good benefits with “unlimited” PTO. KarmaCheck pays well but there are huge pay discrepancies between people who do the same job. Remote work.

Cons

KarmaCheck is a very chaotic and non-transparent company to work for. We just went through a round of layoffs, termed reduction in force, because they hired too many people and realized they were not making as much money as they thought they would. People who had been there for years and brought so much to the company were let go rather than newly hired people. There is no job security. You’re expected to work 10+ hours a day if you want to be considered valuable to the company. The leadership structure also makes no sense, There is a whole team of people with manager titles with the exception of one person. Who are those people managing? The largest team is the customer support and research team. This allows KarmaCheck to hire legitimate researchers and investigators but force them in a customer service role where they are inundated every single day in Slack with leadership screaming “CHATS NOW!”, “2 CHATS WAITING”. Leadership does not seem to value their employees not the chaos they endure day in and day out. There is no support. Come to work be a cog in the KarmaCheck wheel and hope you do not get laid off, overwhelmed and burned out, or fired for not fitting in with the culture. There are no growth opportunities. HR told us a few months ago that they were going to push for growth opportunities and hiring from within. We were in the middle of hiring when a freeze and then layoffs happened but even still not one internal person was being interviewed for those open roles.

Horrible

Pros

Some employees are genuinely talented and supportive. Flexible remote work schedule, but that’s about the only positive.

Cons

The managers here are completely unfit to lead. They lack basic leadership skills, communication is inconsistent, and decisions seem arbitrary. It often feels like no one in management knows what they’re doing, and their poor decisions create confusion and frustration at every level. The company as a whole lacks direction. Priorities change constantly with no clear explanation, making it impossible to know what’s important. This creates a chaotic work environment. The company randomly did layoffs after emphasizing how well they were doing financially. Truly deceptive culture.
