In the first place, the pay is barely above today's minimum wage in California (and Silicon Valley for that matter). And seems like pretty much everything MUST be done on a RUSH basis due to the nature of the legal field.
As a courier and process server, some folks would say that you get used to all that driving, but the fact is that with this office in San Jose (Northern California headquarters), they will send you all over the Bay Area from the local South Bay to the Tri-Valley and Peninsula, and as far away as San Francisco, Santa Rosa, and even the Delta area (Concord, Pittsburg, Antioch). They will never mention this ahead of time, but do be prepared to go to Sonoma County (Napa), and maybe even to places like Stockton. As much as 250 miles each day is really not good for your health and well-being. And traffic has been getting worse and worse over the years, so no, you'll never really get used to all this driving! The office is also clearly disorganized and there are times I have seen duplicate work orders or I have been sent to a bad address or been given the wrong information.
Bottom line is that this may be a good short-term job, but I personally would never make a career out of it. The job is not very flexible in terms of schedule, medical benefits are a joke, and no 401K or savings plans are available. Would not recommend this employer at all. So much for claiming their people make them #1.
