Pros

A good stopgap while you look for another job. Always vacancies as people don’t stay long.

Cons

Scruffy, depressing, claustrophobic office with no natural light. Outdated equipment. Constant backbiting. Low salaries for support staff. No concern for staff.

We are sorry to hear that the short time you spent with us did not meet your expectations. At 86 %, our employee retention rate is five percentage points above the average for the legal sector and the majority of our career vacancies represent new roles to support our continued growth, so we are disappointed you have been left with a negative perception of an area in which we perform very well. We accept that some team members find our Grade II-listed offices a bit quirky and appreciate their patience while we finalise plans to relocate to brand new offices by the end of 2019.

Thank you for bringing your thoughts to our attention - employee feedback is very important to us and we take all of your comments seriously. While we do not know the specific details of your individual situation, please be assured that we benchmark our salary offerings annually against the market to ensure we provide fair and competitive pay for all members of the firm, alongside an extensive benefits package which includes enhanced pension contributions, additional leave and enhanced maternity/paternity pay, amongst other varied benefits. Our trainees undergo an industry-leading development programme, which we believe gives them the very best start to their legal career, and we are proud to say that we have a trainee retention rate of 95% (versus a national average of 79% for 2017). As a recent survey of trainee and newly-qualified (NQ) solicitor salaries shows, we also compare particularly favourably to the rest of the market for NQ salaries (https://www.thelawyer.com/trainee-newly-qualified-salaries-uk-law-firms/). We are sorry that your experience did not meet your expectations. Once again, thank you for bringing your thoughts to our attention and please be assured that we use all employee feedback to discuss how we can continually improve the working environment for our team. We wish you the very best of luck for the future.

This review has only just been posted but must have been written at an earlier date as we all moved to the same office location 6 months ago. We are sorry that we didn't see this response at the time and so missed the opportunity to try and respond to your concerns which, hopefully, no longer exist for your former colleagues. However, thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback and, again, sorry we didn't receive it at the time.
