      Pros

      L'arche is a remarkable experience. You will never be in a environment like it. With my time in L'arche I made wonderful new relationships with all members I assisted and worked with. It honestly feels like a new family.

      Cons

      While working within the houses was an amazing unforgettable experience, there is always a lack of care from those who see L'arche as "Just a job" with uncaring individuals placed across the international team. If there is a problem effecting you or others, there will be no change. Working at L'arche for just one year is advised.

      A place of contradictions

      Pros

      Get to know Core Members and bond with them over time. Get days off to explore local area. Meet some good people for sure.

      Cons

      Past Community Leader at location and past House Manager little more than bitter, angry bullies. Prattle on about "faith" yet are nasty more often than not. Revelations about Vanier very sad and tragic but in a way not unsurprising; for example, if a colleague expresses romantic interest in a co-worker, it is assumed the co-worker should fall over themselves with gratitude and happiness at the attention, and if the colleague is ignored (perhaps you have no interest in a romantic relationship) then passive aggressive destruction of your character will begin - cowardly actions to be fair. Overall, not that much of a stretch from that mentality to the heinous actions of Jean Vanier - "God has placed us both here etc." Very disturbing to contemplate!
