I have been working at Lazada full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    #Great learning opportunities
#Energetic & Dynamic work colleagues- often extremely smart
    #Nice office
    #Fast-paced

    Cons

Some extremely ego-centric senior people managers, hugely male-dominated environment at the top with people often being rude & highly aggressive

please have a forum where people can voice or talk about their managers and give feedback on a regular basis- without fear that their managers might fire them anyday..

    Advice to Management

#Hire more smart women & less men with massive egos
#To have more anonymous feedback channels

I worked at Lazada full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

There are SOME great employees here who are extremely talented and hard working.
Employees in general are all extremely hard working and passionate

    Cons

Do not trust C level employees of the company. They are artists at manipulation and short term gain.
Having worked for many companies over 12years this company has the most toxic working environment and most short sighted vision I've come across.
The company will work you to the bone and as soon as you show any sign of falling below 120% for a second you will be seen as a weakness with a view for you to leave. This business mentality is a ruthless one so make sure you get the appropriate compensation should you want to work for them.

I think this will change in 1 to 2yrs once the rocket internet culture and hitmen squad have washed away while Lazada brings in its own identity. Until then I'd stay clear.

    Advice to Management

No point giving advice. They listen to their own ego only.

    Pros

Management is aware of the abysmal Glasdoor ratings: the new CEO himself asked the whole company in a town hall to come leave positive reviews. We may overtake FoxConn anytime soon.

    Cons

Management solution for bad Glasdoor reviews is to blame disgruntled employees for them and ask the happy campers to come here and praise the new administration. Take all positive comments from Aug 27 onwards with a pinch of salt.

    Advice to Management

Acknowledge (and clean) the existing leadership problems in HR, countries and CEO. Listen to the experienced employees. Define a solid strategy, stop favouritism, be self-reflecting and maybe after that the ratings will improve organically.

    Pros

Fast growing e-commerce and company is one of the fastest growing.

CEO and commercial leaders have ambitious growth plan and it actually seems possible that it can be realised.

Management in commercial divisions is good, though it could be better supported by the top management to have sufficient resources for them.

For HR aspirants: This is the place for you if:
    - you like to work in organisations where who-you-know matters far more than what-you-accomplish, and want to be skilled at playing politics.
    - are good at showing a sense of urgency in body language, are great at making consultancy-style presentations, even if it does not have focus.
    - want the brand name of Alibaba group on your CV.. and don't mind doing anything that comes with it.
    - are young, under 6 years of experience, and wants to hold senior job titles without actual seniority.

    Cons

In HR: Top-down and directive work culture that is operated behind a veil of being a family.

Senior HR leaders are unable to develop focus to address most pressing needs and gaps of business. Most senior leaders set the tone of being aggressive, assert authority, and take little accountability for their own poor planning.

Has attracted people in HR who 'service' with lots of activities.. but do not know how to develop great HR initiatives.

Urgent activities all the time actually is a reflection of poor decision making and planning by HR leaders. They show confidence, make many powerpoint slides, organise many group events, instagram photo taking, etc. But very little actual contribution to business or its people.

    Advice to Management

Question if the new HR processes will take the company forward... or backwards by discouraging external folks from joining such industrial-era and authoritarian HR practices!

Hold senior HR leaders accountable for all aspects of people strategy & executing on it. Don't let just one well-marketed HR initiative drown out the mess on others.

Hold HR leaders performance as accountable for high attrition in the HR team. Regularly take feedback from HR team members.
