analogue company

Pros

you are in charge of your projects and work totally independently. Sometimes you take a beer with your colleagues who live in the same situation of totally "loneliness". You cannot work from home and your job overcome the job time and you cannot use the extra hours for your benefits like permissions, a day off, or pay extra. It's a good place if you are looking for a new experience in an old analog company and you want to work totally alone.

Cons

Constantly you work alone throught a tool where the managers assign tasks and goals to their team. You don't speak with anybody, here doesn't exist meeting or guidelines for each employee. The managers work totally alone without asking for suggestions and have not interested in new ideas or your opinion. The salary is very low for an Austrian job but they are lucky because they exploit interns only for 6 months to assign them tasks like managers and paid miserably; You don't have any chance to grow inside the company and each day is the same. There is a big turnover of unsatisfied employees.

Pros

- The local team was awesome. A super supportive, fun, and laid-back environment to work in. - You get to connect with amazing creatives, not only within the film photography community but across various disciplines & industries - The workload is enjoyable and you can really make it your own - Lovely staff/employees all around!

Cons

- Employees are severely underpaid & undervalued, especially for US standards. There are no opportunities for raises; even those who have stayed at the company for years are not given raises. The company hires eager young people who are fresh out of college, simply because they can pay them as little as possible. - The owners are unfortunately very disrespectful, hostile and out of line most of the time. On multiple occasions, they spoke negatively about past & current employees behind their backs. Being around them was stressful and uncomfortable. - No flexibility or incentives for employees. There is zero tolerance for remote working, you are expected to be in office 5 days a week. Employees receive bare minimum PTO and health benefits. The owners try very hard to enforce rigid rules & micromanagement, specifically within the US. - The owners expect you to devote your entire life to the company and completely cut out any personal creative endeavors or side hustles.

Pros

- Local team is amazing. They are some of the most creative and hardworking people I know. - Being surrounded by a creative community is never boring. There's always something to look forward to even when just browsing their website. - Office environment is fun and chill. No dress code. - Work from home setting during the pandemic. - We receive Lomography cameras and freebies yearly. There's also an employee discount.

Cons

- No room to grow. The company doesn't offer training/seminars relevant to your role. - Pay is way below industry standards. No annual reviews/salary increases/ bonuses. - Experienced mansplaining, and micromanaging. - Some bosses from other countries often look down on our team. - Outdated office equipment, even on basic things like tables and chairs. - High attrition rate. Prepare to shoulder more work than what's in your contract without a formal agreement and additional pay. - During the pandemic, we're able to work from home. Provided equipment was already slow and outdated which makes it frustrating. It's better to just buy your own computer.

Pros

- You get to fiddle with all these cameras and films and geek out about analogue photography. It's a genuinely rewarding mission but it will quickly stop feeling rewarding.

Cons

- They're very traditional. It is very frustrating when you believe in the mission and the products but the whole team is so delusional about their own outdated ways of marketing. - They're way of tracking performance analytics is by these metrics that don't help very much. You're required to submit metrics but we never interpret it or huddle to discuss how its been performing or re-strategize. - No team meetings, no feedback - Micromanagement - Pay is not competitive at all. They are also very frugal with budgets. - The company culture feels weird, hostile, and their way of comms is slow and secretive. - Teams from international offices tend to not take local teams as seriously. - In my years here, did not get to learn much besides the same marketing strategies which felt more rote. No analytics, no consumer studies. Felt very guerilla marketing.
