Pros

Pleasant co-workers, commitment to MIT, a lot of employee engagement. Really good customer service, which I credit to strong middle managers. Great benefits; compensation lower.

Cons

The president is the problem. Very stressed senior team because of controlling and selfish leadership. Dysfunction leads to high attrition. MIT has turned a blind eye.

Pros

The best part about being an employee of the credit union is the relationship that the organization has with the university. As a result of this relationship, all of the benefits and opportunities that employees of the university are given are yours as well. Co-workers are pleasant and friendly. The location is great- right in Kendall Sq., within walking distance of Central Sq.

Cons

Challenges of working at the credit union are that management, for the most part, haven't been anywhere else and have no knowledge of best practices or alternatives to what they've always done. This also means that you know exactly how far you'll go, they're all waiting to hit their retirement number and cash out-- they're not going anywhere anytime soon! Also, there is a weird relationship between senior management, managers and staff that do not allow for critical information to flow up to the CEO. This means when you find out about a decision, you question what was used as the facts to come to that conclusion, because critical information that would shape the decision was not told to the CEO. They have grown organically, despite their lack of structure and organization and at some point, they will no longer be able to sustain it!
