Pros
Great work space. MakeSpace had moved to a new office just before I left. The office is in FiDi and features surround windows and two terraces. Catered lunches three times a week and a stocked kitchen!
Cons
No official work from home policy. Working from home was often looked down upon. No work/life balance. There is a definite "when duty calls" atmosphere for certain teams like customer support, PR, sales, accounting, etc. The CEO of the company has no problem calling you directly on a Saturday morning if he thinks something demands you immediate attention - even if you're on vacation! A lot of wasted resources means the company burn is MUCH higher than the revenue brought in. For example, there is a sales team in place who's sole job is to bring in new customers. When you consider the lifecycle of the average MakeSpace customer and the amount they'll pay, versus the resources MakeSpace spends on obtaining said customer (marketing, sales team, operations team), it's pretty easy to see this sales structure doesn't work. HIGH TURNOVER! People either quit or are randomly fired. Gossip and rumors are natural in a small office. The Founders and the Leadership team should be addressing these issues head on, instead they do a lot of jazz hands to distract you from the truth going on. You'd often find that someone would disappear overnight - the desk cleared and their communications scrubbed. Or, if the Leadership team DID address Employee X's departure, it was always to paint them as some kind of degenerate. I was at MakeSpace for over a year and I saw this happen four separate times. The turnover at MakeSpace is crazy between people quitting and the leadership teams lack of trust/firing frenzy.
