Pros

Marlin Hawk is a great place to work. The client service and quality standards are exceptional and show why the company has been so successful since its inception. There is a strong work ethic, yet at the same time it is a very friendly, fun environment in which the more senior colleagues provide mentoring and encourage rapid success. The blue-chip client list and C-suite assignments give junior staff fantastic experience, not just in executive search but also in associated services such as market intelligence, leadership assessment and talent mapping.

Cons

No company is perfect but it’s hard to think of any negatives in this case. It is such a ‘can-do’ environment: lots of belief without the arrogance. One drawback is that the abundance of cakes is having a detrimental impact on my waistline.

Thank you for your comments. Our culture is important to us and it’s good to hear that we are seen as hard working yet fun. Team spirit is everything and we like to celebrate, whether it’s a company ski trip, charity walk or just a Monday afternoon sugar rush!

Pros

Exposure across the whole of the candidate life cycle. Opportunities to progress quickly through the company if you are good enough.

Cons

Long hours, certainly not your standard 9-5 job. No formal training structure in place, so you will have to be proactive in this respect.

Thank you for your comments. We are very mindful that training needs to be more disciplined and have now put in place a more formal training structure and continue to develop our training programme to suit different roles and responsibilities. This continues to be a work in progress. With respect to hours, executive search is seldom a 9-5 job but we are mindful of this and do our best to compensate accordingly and are continually working to provide an improved work/life balance.

Pros

A tough but rewarding business that allows you to have a huge amount of client exposure that the big firms don't until you are a partner. A lot of work, a lot of pressure as high standards but those who want to succeed will. Not a 9-5 environment but the time out in pays well financiallu

Cons

More searches per consultant than other firms means that the hours are long and there is constant pressure - but at the same time there's a steady flow of business without us having to do bd

Thank you for your comments. We make a point of giving people big opportunities early in their careers and love to see them flourish as a result. We believe we have the highest billing per head of any search firm and, while we see that as a positive, need to keep a watchful eye and maintain a healthy balance.
