Great people, Poor Leadership and Culture

Pros

The people who work here are great. There is a feeling of camaraderie amongst the troops albeit mostly within the functional areas (i.e. Content, Engineering, etc). Company benefits are pretty good. The CMO seems to have a vision for the company. Unfortunately he is the only good hire in the last year at the senior level.

Cons

Senior leadership and work/life balance are the main cons of this company. Regarding leadership, it honestly doesn't exist. They claim that they care about the people but that is not the case. Recognition and promotions are not based on merit. Leadership doesn't aspire people to do their best which is why all the good talent end up leaving. There is no work/life balance as the expectations given current resources are not aligned. This causes great stress and exist across multiple functional areas not just Content.

Pros

1) Decent pay 2) Talented UX team 3) CEO easily accessible

Cons

1) Product Leadership -CPO, COO, Directors of Product, Product Managers are the most incompetent group of people that I've ever worked with. 2) How the CPO makes decisions "So X, how do you feel about moving forward with this feature?" Answer: "Oh, it looks good. I think it'll work." 🤡 3) Product leadership + product managers don't understand how to develop product strategy that is backed by data that has POWER (stat sig, etc.). In fact, most of their decisions were based on assumptions which is why the features that they test completely fail. Why the do they fail? They are literally dumb ideas based on assumptions . 4) Product team claims to be "innovative" however, they don' keep up with innovation at all. When asked about why MC doesn't consider investing in innovative technologies of the future (such as the MetaVerse), the COO essentially responded, "we don't buy into fad movements." Interesting that leadership wanted product teams to take risks but yet they were highly risk averse 🤔 funny how that works. 5)MasterClass will get bought out or it'll crash. Just a matter of time and it's because of the morons that are in product leadership.
