Pros

The offices are nice and open, and you're supplied with booze on late nights and Fridays. There is a strong sense of teamwork

Cons

Literally don't know where to start...it's over 2 years ago since I was at MP and I still shudder when I think of what the job entailed. Copious amounts of cold calling, pestering and bullying of clients and marketing teams in order for them to buy ad space in one of your ridiculously niche campaigns. Management when I was there was made up of people that had raked the most money in commission wise - the management structure is retained on profit rather than knowledge, guidance and wisdom. The perks like a free iPhone, booze on a friday, holidays and parties etc are all there as incentives to make you start work at 8.30am and not finish until 7.30pm or later - often feeling guilty if you do actually go home. There's just so many things that are wrong with the non existent ethic and morale of this company and if I could tell myself back then - I would have said to never have even gone to the interview.

Pros

Ok social culture, drinks, outings.

Cons

Mislead you into being a "project manager" but you're just a glorified Sales exec. They don't train you on their processes, you just get plunged into the deep end. The amount of work at the start of the project is unrealistic to the deadlines, and they are NOT sympathetic when you can't make the deadline. The turnover is really high, I was there for only 6 months and saw 3 people leave. They promote young people who have done well in Sales but have NO idea how to manage people, and become as unsympathetic as their seniors. The salary is really low, but you are expected to stay late all the time, so much that if you don't stay late at least twice a week, people raise eyebrows???! Horrible place to work, but I understand that is what Sales is like. Bu they should really make that clear, and not go round employing people as "project managers" but as Sales executives.

Hello, I am very sorry to hear that your experience at Mediaplanet wasn’t what you had hoped for. We are spending a considerate amount of time to trying and to improve the working environment at Mediaplanet and your feedback is therefore very much appreciated. Following from your feedback we have gone back to our recruiters to ensure that they are being extremely clear at all stages of the interview and onboarding process about what the role entails. This is something that I will also take note of when I conduct interviews personally. We have recently added more support staff to our team to help support new members of staff and are constantly trying to improve our training and try and manage the work load at the start of a campaign. Mediaplanet employees always have been and always will be my first priority. If you would like to provide more feedback, it will always been welcomed, listened to and actioned upon. I believe you know how to contact me if you would like to do so. Sincerely, Alex Williams

Pros

- fun incentives (music in office, beers, evenings out) - learn a lot - if you outlast everyone around you, you could just get promoted - you can earn your freedom from your micro managing bosses (if the money is coming in)

Cons

- extremely low base salary - no ethics whatsoever, lie to your clients to get a quick buck - if you haven't brought money in before week 5, you will get fired - management on all levels doesn't know anything whatsoever, usually promotions come out of necessity as someone has left the company, and replacements are chosen based on wrong criteria, have no leadership experience or anything to teach
