Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookI worked at Mi5 full-time for more than a year
Pros
Civil Service pension Nice office Flexi time.
Cons
Very cliquey, unfriendly place to work where admin staff are seen as the lowest of the low. Intrusive vetting process to actually get the job. Low pay for central London. If you face doesn’t fit, you won’t progress. I left to go back to university to retrain and I’m now much happier and earn twice as much money rather than doing some crappy, menial admin role. Poor line management. Most of the staff who work here doing admin are chavvy, Essex types who think they are special.

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookI worked at Mi5 full-time for more than 5 years
Pros
Interesting workloads (in some departments) and some talented colleagues.
Cons
Poor pay, civil service feel, lots of staff all wanting the same 'glamorous' roles so lots of dissatisfaction and lack of progression. Dead Man's Shoes culture and 'if your face fits' type of thing. Underskilled HR and Deployment teams can't deal with the organisational demands. No skills-testing of management before they are assigned to teams. Bizarre randomisation of line-management responsibilities.

Doesn't RecommendNegative OutlookI worked at Mi5 for less than a year
Pros
By far the worst intelligence agency along with GHCQ, I would not suggest contacting them if you are a non UK citizen in tech.
Cons
Horrible case officers in MI6 doing vetting by far the worst they have used ,tradecraft includes using Anglo Americans, UK Irish and Indians
