Pros

None, environment has been sliding downwards.

Cons

"The beatings will continue until moral improves" Upper management thinks that cramming everyone into "open floorplans" is a benefit. I can't even hear myself think most days.

Pros

Decent pay & benefits - though the benefits have been reduced significantly over the past 15 years. Good co-workers for the most part.

Cons

Sr Management is focused on maximizing profit over all else. Treating employees well is barely an afterthought. Morale has been declining for years. When Berkshire Hathaway took over I had heard that they will be a great financial stabilizer, but will squeeze the company like a turnip to get the last ounce of profit out and it turned out to be true. Budgets are cut to the bone - except for wind power projects, which Sr Management has convinced regulators to allow an 11% + return. One Sr Manager in particular has single-handedly demoralized about 1/3 of the company with his attitude and policies - his ego was so large I'm amazed it fit through a doorway. If you disagreed with him, he would find ways either get you fired or make your life miserable and you would want to leave.

Pros

Pay is fairly good compared to other Admin positions around the area. The PTO is excellent - a minimum of 6 hours is accrued per pay period for a max of close to 8 weeks. Some of the buildings are casual wear on a daily basis.

Cons

The last six months have seen a big decrease in morale with no end in sight. No offices can order supplies or kitchen items (coffee, plates, etc...) without jumping through a bunch of hoops, and supply requests are just denied anyway. Nearly all employees who aren't upper management are faced with 50-60 hours of work a week and are given no overtime. Employees work hard for the company day in and day out, and when the year end comes bonuses are cut and pay raises are diminished. That way we can publish big earnings, and the higher ups can get their millions in salary and bonus.
