Pros

Made great connections in the theatre/acting industry. Amazing benefits such as discounts around Toronto and sometimes comps for shows at other theatres. Management is very supportive and friendly and they really care about their staff. The job is also super flexible and great for artists as you mostly choose your shifts.

Cons

A lot of standing. Tuxes can get hot in the summer months. Seeing shows multiple times can be a pain, especially if the show isn't good.

Pros

- working at Broadway-level shows is exciting and cool - coworkers can become great friends - inspiration and contacts for people with stage ambitions - decent pay for light work - good benefits with union seniority

Cons

- dull, repetitive work with little respect from management - management disorganized at all levels, blame passed down; ushers and concession staff hurt most - critical information not shared between levels so front line staff must deal with the fallout - upper management aggressively anti-union so staff are encouraged to move on before they can earn benefits - guilty till proven innocent in disciplinary matters

Pros

The colleagues were the best part of the job. The work itself is easy as long as you enjoy working with customers. Occasional offers of complimentary tickets.

Cons

Management very disorganized and seem to lack knowledge of their role. Very minimal training which was fine for me, but many need more than 1 or 2 hours of training to be able to do the job.
