Pros

Very good for retired or unemployed teachers. Includes paid training. Gets you into a variety of schools in your geographic area. Gives you experience with how the "nation's report card" assessment works, as well as experience with the detail-oriented work of field surveys.

Cons

Short-term, but very intense and demanding at its peak (Jan-March). Can be overwhelming, between the work load and the requirements. Just as you have mastered the job, it's over, and won't be available until the next round in two years.

Pros

This is my third (upcoming) cycle working for NAEP. I adjust my work schedule every two years to do this. It is a very rewarding yet challenging job. I have had amazing support from an excellent supervisor and my team has always been very reliable. It is a great opportunity to network with other educators and learn new skills. Paid training/travel are a plus too.

Cons

It's only for two months but it is perfect for retirees.
