Inexperienced micro-managers

Pros

The company does work on very big programs. If you are into gaming its a great place to be. The owners are very loyal and kind people but sometimes that's not to their advantage. If you are just starting out in the experiential marketing world it's a good place to gain experience.

Cons

This company is full of inexperienced managers who have only ever worked at one place. It's run on emotion and not professionalism. If you are a seasoned pro you will feel undervalued, demoralized, micro-managed, and condescended to in the worst passive aggressive way.

Pros

I was there when things were good, all desks were full, seemed like a well oiled machine of talented workers with decent attitudes

Cons

Where do I even begin. I was there when it was good, but it quickly went downhill. Clients were less and less frequent, staff was overworked, exhausted, underpaid and the suck ups were getting “raises”. Their idea of a raise is a few grand and a beg, plea and it all depended on whether the very CEO liked you or not—- trust me, you didn’t want to get on her bad side, I’ve heard horror stories of they grudges she would hold over you. The women owned company wouldn’t protect or elevate the other women in the company, in fact it was very much a boys club. The talent there was hit or miss- hiring process was A JOKE. The interview process was embarrassing for the candidate as they would put them through the ringer and then ghost. Honestly, they ended up doing the candidate a favor. The upper management would often talk crap about their staff behind closed doors, but because it was a petty, toxic environment it would always get out. They would upgrade the office and talk about how much they care about their team and laughingly use the word “family”. They would hire terrible people to upper management positions who ended up creating a toxic environment- I still talk to some of the employees and they are dying to leave and move on to where they can actually perform quality work and get appreciated for it.

Pros

Cool projects / Big clients. Diverse Team. I met some amazing people there.

Cons

-There is a substantial amount of staff that any competent human would consider "dead weight". No matter how poor the performance was of these people, they seemed to linger on for years without any accountability from senior management. Some of this was absolutely due to nepotism. -Poor salaries are rampant at NCompass. Fair raise requests are oftenly battled over by the owners with lengthy delays on providing a professional response to an employees request. -All the true production/producing/strategy/account talent are eventually overworked, underpaid & underappreciated. They ALL move on. -One of the owners is highly emotional. She takes nearly everything personally and can/will be a total micro-manager. Her instability rubs many staff and clients the wrong way. Her presence can totally derail an otherwise productive internal/external meeting. Senior management is not fond of her at all, but most of them are too fearful to stand up to her. -Vendors are NEVER paid on time. It's humiliating to be constantly on the receiving end of angry vendors who are chasing large payments 6-12 months after the services/goods were rendered. -There are a LOT of directors and executives for a small agency. There are very few team members that are actually focused on the production of large programs. -The Account Managers (some being junior level) are charged with running production budgets & leading all client calls which diminishes the role and effectiveness of the Senior Producer position. This abnormal agency structure led to frequent confusion and frustration by internal team and clients alike. -Freelancers are often hired way too late in the project timeline to be effective. This frustration can be frequently linked to disparity over compensation. -Production teams are typically not given the trust of senior management. -There is no training to speak of for junior staff. -Work/life balance isn't good especially considering there isn't a fiscal upside to working your brains out. -Owners are VERY anti WFH.
